<br />
This is my second GlossyBox and I am head over heels IN LOVE. The theme for September's box is Fall Forward with items that are considered the most current. The first thing I noticed was no magazine- only the little card with tell you about your items. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1aQJXjGPy30/UGTnUdU2WII/AAAAAAAAAmI/tWRtFsjDiwA/s1600/20120927_111147.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1aQJXjGPy30/UGTnUdU2WII/AAAAAAAAAmI/tWRtFsjDiwA/s320/20120927_111147.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-45Zt7J-OHxI/UGTndn5rYdI/AAAAAAAAAmU/oPFsUCpqDMk/s1600/20120927_111217.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-45Zt7J-OHxI/UGTndn5rYdI/AAAAAAAAAmU/oPFsUCpqDMk/s320/20120927_111217.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ubln9PVvM5Q/UGTnl05b4yI/AAAAAAAAAmc/xHjNgBP6lek/s1600/20120927_111514.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ubln9PVvM5Q/UGTnl05b4yI/AAAAAAAAAmc/xHjNgBP6lek/s320/20120927_111514.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The first thing I noticed was the Juvexin products- pretty big samples- now that's what I'm talkin' about. The front of the bottle says the shampoo has Keratin in it and its supposed to keep your hair shiny, manageable, and frizz free for up to 5 months. That's a big claim , but I'm really excited to try this one out. Full sizes of the shampoo and conditioner are $20 each.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CBFXyugit0U/UGTn9R5JtdI/AAAAAAAAAmk/mPlG85bgtU8/s1600/20120927_111702.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CBFXyugit0U/UGTn9R5JtdI/AAAAAAAAAmk/mPlG85bgtU8/s320/20120927_111702.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next is the Kryolan for GlossyBox Moisture Rich lipstick in GLOSSY pink. I kind of really like this pink. Its not usually a color I would reach for as I'm all about the nude lip, but this color is a really nice neutral which is perfect for fall. I also like that it would look really great on a wide variety of skin tones. Love the GloosyBox symbol on the lid also! Full size is $14<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9OwrLDwKxiw/UGToTIsIZuI/AAAAAAAAAms/Ut92pyKk1kk/s1600/1348759071514.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9OwrLDwKxiw/UGToTIsIZuI/AAAAAAAAAms/Ut92pyKk1kk/s320/1348759071514.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
When I saw this product I literally wanted to rip all my hair out of my head I was THAT excited. Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I just didn't even know what to do for like a whole minute. I've been wanting to try a different BB cream (a non-American one!) and just haven't bitten the bullet to do ahead and order it. After my extreme excitement (lol) I was slightly crestfallen. I know that many BB creams are very light- especially Asian ones and can leave a grey cast to the skin. I pumped out some of the product and I swear I almost passed out when I saw that it was my skin tone. O.M.G. Full size is $29.99<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
Last product is the OC 8 Professional Mattifying Gel. This is something I can always use as I have combination skin and my t-zone can get oily. Full size is $30.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lIklxUNGt0E/UGTpJjNVewI/AAAAAAAAAnM/Kn48BnJ6tp4/s1600/1348759427575.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lIklxUNGt0E/UGTpJjNVewI/AAAAAAAAAnM/Kn48BnJ6tp4/s320/1348759427575.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Overall, I really loved this box. I really feel like I'm getting more than my money's worth with all of the full size or near full size products they include. Definitely looking forward to next month's box!<br />
<br />
What did you think of this month's GlossyBox?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-82273263894123547702012-09-27T19:53:00.002-04:002012-09-27T19:53:44.245-04:00September Birchbox- Unboxing!The September Birchbox theme is fall fashion- how exciting is that???<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eF_-vkgQFzM/UGTmdO6K-OI/AAAAAAAAAls/3_uuUCGiqKo/s1600/1348760061921.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eF_-vkgQFzM/UGTmdO6K-OI/AAAAAAAAAls/3_uuUCGiqKo/s320/1348760061921.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
The first thing I noticed when I opened my box is the magazine. I really like that Birchbox is making its service more "luxurious" by including this little magazine. On one hand, I'd rather get more deluxe samples, but I did like the magazine. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--6j8H5S_nMw/UGTiosPT8QI/AAAAAAAAAjs/Nwlai91WH0Q/s1600/CameraZOOM-20120927113833856.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--6j8H5S_nMw/UGTiosPT8QI/AAAAAAAAAjs/Nwlai91WH0Q/s320/CameraZOOM-20120927113833856.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8scUpuU2p9M/UGTipYISwrI/AAAAAAAAAj0/lDwxM8B7svo/s1600/1348760334156.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8scUpuU2p9M/UGTipYISwrI/AAAAAAAAAj0/lDwxM8B7svo/s320/1348760334156.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The first sample is a deluxe POREfessional by Benefit. If you've read my blog in the past, you'll know this didn't work out for me, but I know I can give it to a friend whom this will work for, so this one was "meh". Full size is $29<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-triD9kCFvNk/UGTi2tDR93I/AAAAAAAAAkA/93V2Pp2TwDQ/s1600/1348760264158.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-triD9kCFvNk/UGTi2tDR93I/AAAAAAAAAkA/93V2Pp2TwDQ/s320/1348760264158.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wFzxvyVYJLg/UGTi5se80OI/AAAAAAAAAkI/ZhpuC_uRSy8/s1600/1348760251852.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wFzxvyVYJLg/UGTi5se80OI/AAAAAAAAAkI/ZhpuC_uRSy8/s320/1348760251852.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next was the Color Club Custom Polish. I received "Insta-this" , a beautiful bright cobalt blue. This reminds me a lot of the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Pacific Blue that everyone's been raving about. I kept eyeballing it at the drugstore, but I'm definitely happy with this ColorClub version! Full size is $8<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-coVJSRHp73A/UGTjEvgO_LI/AAAAAAAAAkQ/7_GOw-_LzG0/s1600/1348760183834.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-coVJSRHp73A/UGTjEvgO_LI/AAAAAAAAAkQ/7_GOw-_LzG0/s320/1348760183834.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This little perfume sample is of Kate Spade's Twirl. I like it. Its very fruity with a bit of floral but I don't think I'll be running out to get it. Full size is $18-80 <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4YuJQe6YUHo/UGTl34IkRfI/AAAAAAAAAlE/CY6SuzOD-6U/s1600/1348760289389.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4YuJQe6YUHo/UGTl34IkRfI/AAAAAAAAAlE/CY6SuzOD-6U/s320/1348760289389.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Next we have foil packet samples of the Nexxus Pro-Mend Split End Treatment System. I'm not the hugest fan of packet-type samples as I much prefer deluxe sizes, but I've heard good things about this line, so I am excited to try it. Full sizes range from $9.99-$14.99<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5mFJCEZ51O8/UGTl-8ukgHI/AAAAAAAAAlM/6fqN5rr7M-Y/s1600/1348760234511.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5mFJCEZ51O8/UGTl-8ukgHI/AAAAAAAAAlM/6fqN5rr7M-Y/s320/1348760234511.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Last is the twistband hair tie, I received the red one. I had purchased a pack of these in jeweltones in the Sephora version forever ago, so its nice to have received a different color one. I'm liking red for fall. I'm already thinking about a high pony with this and some matching red lipstick. A set of 12 will run you $18.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dYEesBxB_3I/UGTmp7AjXZI/AAAAAAAAAl0/_mFex_Rntos/s1600/CameraZOOM-20120927113703857.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dYEesBxB_3I/UGTmp7AjXZI/AAAAAAAAAl0/_mFex_Rntos/s320/CameraZOOM-20120927113703857.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then lastly, 2 lifestyle extras. one is a Tili Bag, which I've never heard of. It's pretty much a ziplock bag with really cute designs on it. Not incredibly useful, but its not really part of the 5 sample deal- its an extra and it is cute. Maybe I can use it to store my makeup or skincare stuff when I travel. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S5IqBx05rvE/UGTm33hbc6I/AAAAAAAAAl8/KR21bNl8Lho/s1600/CameraZOOM-20120927113643298.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S5IqBx05rvE/UGTm33hbc6I/AAAAAAAAAl8/KR21bNl8Lho/s320/CameraZOOM-20120927113643298.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The last lifestyle extra is a digital download of music by Tristan Prettyman. Another "meh" inclusion. <br />
<br />
Overall, I did like this box with my favorite items being the Color Club Polish and the twistband hair tie. <br />
Are you subscribed to Birchbox? What did you think of this month's box?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-63282479058460809372012-09-15T10:34:00.001-04:002012-09-15T10:36:07.542-04:00You better believe I'm BACK! Back in the New York Groove! Hey guys! ٩◔‿◔۶<br />
<br />
Its great to be back after a long summer hiatus. I took a few summer courses to get ahead in my graduate program and now I finally have some time to sit back and relax. Did any of you do anything interesting this summer? Let me know below in the comments! <br />
<br />
I also recently decided to change up my hair a bit- I can never keep the same thing for too long so I decided to go with some honey-blonde ombre. So far I'm really loving it, but give me a few weeks, I'm sure I'll change my mind! ^‿^<br />
<br />
Anyway, I thought I'd kick off fall with my current wish list!<br />
<br />
1) The Urban Decay Smoked Palette <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Urban Decay - Smoked Eyeshadow Palette" height="320" rel="#product-view-larger" sab="534" src="http://www.sephora.com/productimages/sku/s1434869-main-hero.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="320" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image credit: Sephora.com</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I've eyed this every single time I've gone into Sephora and talked myself out of picking it up. I really love that its got neutrals in the top row and a beautiful mix of jewel tones on the bottom. Needless to say, I think I'll be caving soon.<br />
<br />
2) Living Proof Restore Recovery Regimen <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livingproof.com/buy/restore-recovery-regimen" sab="171" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img height="320" sab="172" src="http://www.livingproof.com/products/images/thumb-restore-regimen_award.png" width="247" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image credit: livingproof.com</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
It has a price point I'm still wavering about, but it promises miracles that my hair needs; its also the recipient of the Allure Best of Beauty 2012 award.<br />
<br />
3) The Balm Nude 'Tude Palette <br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="708" sab="158" src="http://thebalm.com/pics/nudetude.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" usemap="#makeup-mama" width="600" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image credit: thebalm.com</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I've also talked myself into putting this down every time I go to Sephora but the palette as a whole is very versatile with its mix of shimmer and matte and the colors are pigmented and buttery soft.<br />
<br />
4) MAC lipstick in Sunny Seoul<br />
<br />
Check out this <a href="http://mackarrie.blogspot.com/2012/08/mac-lipstick-sunny-seoul.html" target="_blank">link</a> for some great swatches<br />
<br />
This was literally love at first swatch. However, its been a conspiracy trying to find this color as it seems like every MAC in the tri-state area is either sold out or keeping it from me (lol) I may have to order this online. <br />
<br />
5) Statement necklaces<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://intheircloset.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/house-of-harlow-1960-black-resin-necklace.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image credit: zappos.com</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<a href="http://www.blogger.com/null" sab="180" style="cursor: pointer;"></a><br />
Whereas in the past I'd usually shy away, I suddenly can't get enough of statement necklaces. <br />
<br />
What's on your wish list for fall? Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-57059934471634483272012-05-22T11:22:00.001-04:002012-05-22T11:22:28.305-04:00Elf Haul!Hey all! As finals week has been absolutely brutal, I needed a quick and cheap pick-me-up. For that, I turn to Elf. I picked up a few of the things I've been dieing to try from them, from Target:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mcWmbQnaEkM/T7uuKNctTgI/AAAAAAAAAis/5mPjEfVc9kY/s1600/elfhaul+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mcWmbQnaEkM/T7uuKNctTgI/AAAAAAAAAis/5mPjEfVc9kY/s400/elfhaul+2.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
In case you don't already know, all Elf products are ridiculously cheap and most are good quality. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RNLskt-KpSs/T7uuoCa2lBI/AAAAAAAAAi0/E63VK27086g/s1600/elf+haul+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RNLskt-KpSs/T7uuoCa2lBI/AAAAAAAAAi0/E63VK27086g/s400/elf+haul+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
From left to right, I picked up:<br />
<br />
(1) HD Powder ($6)<br />
(2) Flawless Finish Foundation ($3)<br />
(3) Tone Correcting Powder ($3)<br />
(4) Mineral Infused Primer ($3)<br />
<br />
I'll definitely be reviewing these products once I've had a chance to play around with them.<br />
<br />
In the mean time, have you tried any of these products? What did you think?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-31061715599148471822012-05-21T15:58:00.003-04:002012-05-21T15:58:32.043-04:00New Cover Girl Eye ShadowsHey all! <br />
Over the weekend, I was at Rite Aid and noticed a new display of Cover Girl eye shadows. The palettes had new packaging- in black and definitely more sleek. The colors were mostly cool which to me is "meh" as I tend to gravitate toward warmer colors. I saw this palette Prima Donna Diva and thought it was pretty handy- you get warm bronzes and golds but you also get a frosted light pink and a shimmery black for a nice smokey eye. I thought it would be a handy little palette to tote around in your makeup bag because it gives you so many options.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vR3YwrJkEL8/T7qeA0s3rTI/AAAAAAAAAiY/t1XdJtZFr74/s1600/cg+prima+dona+diva+product.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vR3YwrJkEL8/T7qeA0s3rTI/AAAAAAAAAiY/t1XdJtZFr74/s400/cg+prima+dona+diva+product.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I was also curious about whether or not the new palettes had better pigmentation so as soon as I got home, I swatched the colors:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uMEcjcAVjgo/T7qeRBOZQrI/AAAAAAAAAig/4nKGXJ8Ncww/s1600/cg+prima+dona+diva.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uMEcjcAVjgo/T7qeRBOZQrI/AAAAAAAAAig/4nKGXJ8Ncww/s400/cg+prima+dona+diva.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I was honestly pretty disappointed. The payoff was less than mediocre and what you see in the picture above is at least three swipes to get it to show up enough for the swatch. The quad I reviewed last week (Coffee Shop) was MUCH better quality than this one. Plus, with other drug store brands like Wet n Wild turning out eye shadows whose pigmentation is comparable to high-end brands, this is a complete let down. <br />
<br />
I'm not sure if the lack of pigmentation was just the palette I happen to pick up, or if its the entire new line that lacks pigmentation, but I won't be picking up any others any time soon!<br />
<br />
Have you tried any of the new Cover Girl eye shadows? What did you think?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-186413336143179662012-05-18T19:35:00.001-04:002012-05-18T19:35:16.283-04:00Fashion Friday: Cute Flats!Happy Friday everyone! <br />
<br />
It always seems like Fridays can't come fast enough but for me, that was especially true because it was my last week of classes! Next week is finals week and after that, I have a few days to breathe before I start summer classes. What better way to celebrate than to show you a pair of flats I had been dieing for for the LONGEST time? I picked these up from Fabco shoe store for $21.99:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VIbjraUZClE/T7bbwdVAEsI/AAAAAAAAAiM/6jtuy_E_FFc/s1600/fabco+flats.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VIbjraUZClE/T7bbwdVAEsI/AAAAAAAAAiM/6jtuy_E_FFc/s400/fabco+flats.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I haven't worn these yet, but I've wanted an affordable pair of beige ballerina style flats with a black toe for soooo long. When I saw them at Fabco, I literally pounced on them and picked up the very last pair! I checked the website for you guys in case any of you were interested, and it seems like you can't shop for Fabco online, so I found two websites- one with similar styles that are high end, and my other cost effective alternative- Payless! <br />
<br />
Click <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/browse?fts=beige+flat+black+toe#/browse/flats?fts=beige+flat+black+toe&pos=12_0" target="_blank">here</a> for a bunch of higher end flats and <a href="http://www.payless.com/store/product/detail.jsp?catId=cat10088&subCatId=cat10276&skuId=096588120&productId=70092&lotId=096588&category=&catdisplayName=Womens" target="_blank">here</a> to snatch up the Payless ones!<br />
<br />
Have a great weekend!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-23035427413294522232012-05-17T11:51:00.000-04:002012-05-16T23:51:33.037-04:00Cover Girl PalettesAfter my Cover Girl haul yesterday, I couldn't wait to swatch the eye shadows to test their quality. I was actually pleasantly surprised. First up, the Sunset trio: <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KLILuC5NxV8/T7R0ws0_HkI/AAAAAAAAAho/dq4jif7ixz8/s1600/cg+sunset.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KLILuC5NxV8/T7R0ws0_HkI/AAAAAAAAAho/dq4jif7ixz8/s400/cg+sunset.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This one consists of a pinky tan color, a warm gold, and a golden vanilla color (all shimmers). Though all the colors in the palette are really beautiful, I really love the first color- its perfect for day without going over the top. The middle color would be perfect for sunlight golden look while I could see the last color making a really beautiful highlight. The quality of the shadows themselves were average compared to the newer drugstore shadows such as Wet n Wild which are really amazing quality. <br />
Here are some swatches (no primer):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7q1K-NuEr5o/T7R078j50XI/AAAAAAAAAhw/fZlc5MGQlWQ/s1600/cg+sunset+swatch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7q1K-NuEr5o/T7R078j50XI/AAAAAAAAAhw/fZlc5MGQlWQ/s400/cg+sunset+swatch.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The next palette is the quad "Coffee Shop". The colors are very similar to the Sunset trio except this one contains a matte dark brown. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pxS20y77NN0/T7R1Jei_buI/AAAAAAAAAh4/9gXk1pwj7WY/s1600/cg+coffee+shop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pxS20y77NN0/T7R1Jei_buI/AAAAAAAAAh4/9gXk1pwj7WY/s400/cg+coffee+shop.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
These swatched incredibly. The colors were much more pigmented and creamy than the trio except for the dark brown which was just a tad chalky.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UnbDTj2-1wc/T7R1T4iA_GI/AAAAAAAAAiA/lGYzOh8PieM/s1600/cg+coffee+shop+swatch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UnbDTj2-1wc/T7R1T4iA_GI/AAAAAAAAAiA/lGYzOh8PieM/s400/cg+coffee+shop+swatch.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Overall, I'm glad I picked up both of these palettes as I can see them becoming go-tos for travel and/or everyday looks. Plus they're super inexpensive and if you wait for a BOGO sale, they're even more of a bargain.<br />
<br />
Happy Thursday! We're almost to the weekend! ☺Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-78083754044547296682012-05-16T11:28:00.000-04:002012-05-16T11:28:00.713-04:00Cover Girl HaulI've been having a not-so-great week and decided to make it better with what else? A mini drugstore haul! ᵔᴥᵔ I realized that aside from the new collections they periodically come out with, I have kind of left Cover Girl by the wayside for the likes of brands like Revlon, Maybelline, and Almay. So today, I picked up a few products from their core collection to try out: <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k17h00yYcMY/T7MdI40ZZ9I/AAAAAAAAAhU/DufR_H4OWjU/s1600/cg+haul.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k17h00yYcMY/T7MdI40ZZ9I/AAAAAAAAAhU/DufR_H4OWjU/s400/cg+haul.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The products are: <br />
1. Lipslicks Tinted Lipbalm in Demure (I got all nostalgic when I saw these- I remember them from when I was a kid!!)<br />
2. Invisible Concealer in Honey<br />
3. Eyeshadow Trio in Golden Sunset (EmilyNoel83 on YouTube ALWAYS recommends this! I love her videos so I finally broke down and got it...)<br />
4. Eyeshadow quad in Coffee Shop<br />
5. CG Smoothers Foundation in Classic Tan<br />
<br />
Have you tried any of these products? What are your favorite Cover Girl products?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-44041672685955721492012-05-15T09:53:00.001-04:002012-05-15T09:53:15.535-04:00Revlon Kissable Lip StainI was innocently perusing my local Rite Aid the other day (no I was <em>not</em> looking for any new makeup collections... lol) when I happen to spot the new Revlon Kissable Lip Stains. I was pretty excited about these because they seem like a low-cost alternative to the Clinique Chubby sticks. I picked up one color to check out (Charm)- the nude of course. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aJmTWKic88M/T7JcxHoENYI/AAAAAAAAAgw/CSUc6bH2LC8/s1600/revlon+kissable+lip+stain+product.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aJmTWKic88M/T7JcxHoENYI/AAAAAAAAAgw/CSUc6bH2LC8/s400/revlon+kissable+lip+stain+product.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o58HMIAnoH0/T7Jc6vpCtLI/AAAAAAAAAg4/ttbYnHzDZV8/s1600/revlon+kissable+lip+stain+product+macro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="252" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o58HMIAnoH0/T7Jc6vpCtLI/AAAAAAAAAg4/ttbYnHzDZV8/s400/revlon+kissable+lip+stain+product+macro.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Right off the bat, the texture of this product reminded me more of a lipstick than a lip stain. It has a light, pleasant minty smell which wears off after a few minutes and feels hydrating on the lips- not drying as other lip stains usually are. The wear time is average for a lip product- I'd say two hours on my lips. I will say that for me, this was not a lip stain at all. However, I did pick up the lightest color of the collection and my lips are relatively pigmented. Therefore, whatever staining qualities this product has was probably lost on the darker pigmentation of my lips. Because of this, I decided to judge this product more as a lipstick than anything else. <br />
As a lipstick, Charm is on the sheerer side, but still pigmented enough to hide most of the natural red coloring of my lips. Also, because the color is so light and glossy, if there are any dry flakes on your lips, it WILL make them much more obvious so your best bet is to exfoliate before using this product. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R2tCHM0bZks/T7JeghsAJoI/AAAAAAAAAhA/9Kv-x6aKiAA/s1600/revlon+kissable+lip+stain+hand+swatch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="351" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R2tCHM0bZks/T7JeghsAJoI/AAAAAAAAAhA/9Kv-x6aKiAA/s400/revlon+kissable+lip+stain+hand+swatch.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Swatch of Charm on my hand. <br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
As you can see from the swatch above, Charm almost completely blends in with my skin tone. If not for the gloss, you'd barely be able to see it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O_WO7fd2kKk/T7Je4HCQmXI/AAAAAAAAAhI/iAlkkC1PH1E/s1600/revlon+kissable+lip+stain+lip+swatch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="217" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O_WO7fd2kKk/T7Je4HCQmXI/AAAAAAAAAhI/iAlkkC1PH1E/s400/revlon+kissable+lip+stain+lip+swatch.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Though from the swatch on my lips it looks like a clear balm, my lips are a very dark pinky red with nothing on them. You can see how much this tones them down.<br />
<br />
Overall, I do like this product and feel that because its in a twist-up style package, it would be perfect for touch-ups on the go. With the lighter colors in the collection, its pencil shape makes it virtually goof-proof which means that they can be applied without a mirror. Though I don't usually like darker colors on me for every day wear, I may pick up a coral or red color to test the stain quality of this product.<br />
<br />
Have you tried the Revlon Kissable Lip Stains yet? What do you think?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-63018540186652140122012-05-14T21:44:00.000-04:002012-05-14T21:44:32.485-04:00NOTD: Flaming PokerHey all! Today I have a NOTD for you- a gel manicure I did on my sister over the weekend. I picked up the gel polish at Ulta from a brand called Pro Gel. The color is called Flaming Poker:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u0_bHr65RxQ/T7G0B6m_58I/AAAAAAAAAgU/oVA-z2Lecg0/s1600/progel+flaming+poker.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u0_bHr65RxQ/T7G0B6m_58I/AAAAAAAAAgU/oVA-z2Lecg0/s400/progel+flaming+poker.jpg" width="260" /></a></div>
I'm really liking this brand of gel polish. The color was super easy to apply and I was able to achieve my desired opacity in just two coats. What I also like is that the color is reminiscent of China Glaze's cult favorite Ruby Pumps, but is more on the brighter berry red side. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OJB1qmSYQw8/T7G0dEn0YGI/AAAAAAAAAgc/V_Qgc4cpwIc/s1600/progel+flaming+poker+macro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OJB1qmSYQw8/T7G0dEn0YGI/AAAAAAAAAgc/V_Qgc4cpwIc/s400/progel+flaming+poker+macro.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I love the red glitter in this- it makes the color much more glam. <br />
What are your favorite red polishes?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-47855211735878093832012-05-11T23:53:00.002-04:002012-05-11T23:53:45.290-04:00Fashion Friday: CuffsSince I have freakishly small wrists, I can never wear bangles or cuffs because they will literally slide right off my hand or go flying and possible injure someone if I gesticulate wildly as I often do. I absolutely love the way cuffs look, and I have been able to find some small ones that fit me nicely. Here are my favorites:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SHZBN6lLWTo/T63eD3JViEI/AAAAAAAAAgA/UdjJ8X-4-1s/s1600/cuffs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="192" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SHZBN6lLWTo/T63eD3JViEI/AAAAAAAAAgA/UdjJ8X-4-1s/s400/cuffs.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Gold: Charlotte Russe, Silver: Charlotte Russe, Rose Gold: local boutique<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-If38lNwmEN0/T63eexCNTZI/AAAAAAAAAgI/5wSy-gOXFVg/s1600/cuffs+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="190" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-If38lNwmEN0/T63eexCNTZI/AAAAAAAAAgI/5wSy-gOXFVg/s400/cuffs+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I love that while these will jazz up any outfit, they're sleek, simple, and elegant.<br />
<br />
How do you feel about cuffs? Where do you shop for your favorites?<br />
<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-56816504475174388212012-05-10T12:41:00.001-04:002012-05-10T12:43:12.313-04:00NARS Copacabana IlluminatorA brand I haven't really ever gotten into is NARS. Though they have several cult favorites such as Orgasm blush, Laguna bronzer, Sheer Glow foundations, and their ultra-pigmented eye shadows, because of the hefty price tags, I've kind of just looked elsewhere. However, though I still absolutely love my Becca Pearl highlighter, this pinky, frosty one by NARS caught my eye:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DYjyYpFAC3Y/T6vucxSDEaI/AAAAAAAAAfs/YopoR8TOdqc/s1600/NARS+copacabana.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DYjyYpFAC3Y/T6vucxSDEaI/AAAAAAAAAfs/YopoR8TOdqc/s400/NARS+copacabana.jpg" width="260" /></a></div>
<br />
While the look is not for everyone, I enjoy very strong highlights- something you can't really achieve with a powder. What I like about this product is the intense shimmer. It definitely illuminates, but not with giant glitter chunks which would just look strange. Its a bit hard to describe, so I'll just show you! <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vwnMnEhogGY/T6vvABJm6rI/AAAAAAAAAf0/9iyO2g5UBKA/s1600/NARS+copacabana+swatch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vwnMnEhogGY/T6vvABJm6rI/AAAAAAAAAf0/9iyO2g5UBKA/s400/NARS+copacabana+swatch.jpg" width="278" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Unblended on left, blended on right</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Ugh. Its so shimmery and amazing. What I also really enjoy about this product is that even though its a liquid, it does "set". Not into a powdery finish, but it doesn't stay tacky like my Becca one does so I don't have to worry that I'll smear it at some point. I could also see this working on a wide range of skin tones and really POPPING on darker ones. <br />
<br />

They seemed like a cost-effective version of Urban Decay's shadow pencils. I stalked CVS until I found them and picked up these two- the neutrals of course!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Top: Champagne Toast <br />
Bottom: Brown Deluxe<br />

These swatched incredibly. They were soft, creamy, and incredibly pigmented. I used Brown Deluxe as bottom liner and really liked it. I will be testing these as eye bases as well. If these work well, I may go back for a few more colors.<br />

You know, those familiar few products you reach for to create that 5 minute look and dash out the door? Lately that's been me and honestly, I don't *really* mind because I love the look so much. However, with so many things in my collection and so many different products out on the market, I have to challenge myself to branch out. Therefore, for the next few weeks, I'll be incorporating these products into my routine: <br />

I know, those two words seem to go together like oil and water after a weekend that completely flew by, butttt I have a NOTD for you today. As I still have my acrylics on, I did a dark plum gel mani for my sister over the weekend: <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xfcUAsZ_JIY/T6iAHS6ShZI/AAAAAAAAAe4/swxx58-xyAs/s1600/NOTD+speedy+gel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="273" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xfcUAsZ_JIY/T6iAHS6ShZI/AAAAAAAAAe4/swxx58-xyAs/s400/NOTD+speedy+gel.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /><br />
I used the CND Shellac Base Coat, the CND Shellac Top Coat, and a brand of UV gel I picked up awhile back at a beauty supply store. It's called Speedy Gel and the the color is called Plum. It was fairly inexpensive at $9.99 for the quantity you get compared to the Red Carpet gel polishes which I also love, but you get way less of. Also, the gel polish from this brand was completely opaque in just two thin coats whereas the dark colors I've tried from Red Carpet seem to have a strange jelly finish- you can never get them to be completely opaque. <br />
<br />
What do you think about gel manicures? Have you jumped onto the band wagon yet? ت<br />

When it comes to fashion, I consider myself in the "classic" camp because those are the types of clothing I tend to gravitate toward. However, I often see things that look great on other people but I wouldn't necessarily rock myself. There are also some fashion trends that I just can't see eye to eye with. Therefore, the topic of today's post will be my personal fashion don'ts.<br />
<br />
(1) The "mullet" dress<br />
<br />
Side note: I absolutely love Jessica Alba but the dress? Questionable. Maybe if the hems weren't so extreme...?<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www1.pictures.zimbio.com/mp/N9YSjCrhmhzl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="245" id="ibafSlideshowImg" src="http://www1.pictures.zimbio.com/mp/N9YSjCrhmhzl.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image credit: Google</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
(2) Shredded jeans<br />
I think lightly distressed jeans are cute. They add an easy, low-key vibe to your look. When they are excessively shredded (like the first pair below) it just looks sloppy and unkempt. <br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://media.onsugar.com/files/ons1/192/1922564/34_2009/5023640f567ae843_Shredded-jeans-2.preview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="183" src="http://media.onsugar.com/files/ons1/192/1922564/34_2009/5023640f567ae843_Shredded-jeans-2.preview.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image credit: Google</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
(3) Cat print... anything</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love animal print- especially leopard in small doses. Lately, I've been seeing a lot of cat print on various clothing items and it's a trend I just can't get behind.</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image credit: Google</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
(4) Weird print on tights</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I like tights from time to time. However, there are some crazy prints out there that should've stayed in the '80's where they belong!</div>

Even though I secretly (well not so secretly now!) look like a boy with my hair up, I've just been loving the way big buns look. I saw <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67eSgJ95nD4" target="_blank">this</a> tutorial on YouTube recently and HAD to try it ASAP. Plus, if you haven't checked out LeighAnnSays yet, you totally should because she's awesome! <br />
<br />
All you need is a hair tie and a few bobby pins. First you create a pouf in the front and secure with bobby pins. Next you use the hair tie to create a tight ponytail, but instead of bringing the hair all the way out of the hair tie, you create a "loop". Lastly you grab each end of the loop and bring them to the front so they meet- pin together. The last few steps are all about shaping and pinning to your liking. What's great about this hair style is that it does not have to be perfect to look great- perfect for a bad hair day or when you're in a mad rush! <br />
<br />
Here's my first attempt at the "princess bun": <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QeFqWywXRLM/T6Cr49qSgLI/AAAAAAAAAes/sm-2gLJXn2k/s1600/princess+bun+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QeFqWywXRLM/T6Cr49qSgLI/AAAAAAAAAes/sm-2gLJXn2k/s400/princess+bun+2.jpg" width="342" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Aerial view!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eianCvhRC_U/T6CrPgRxPNI/AAAAAAAAAec/TOtyzfCJZBA/s1600/princess+bun+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eianCvhRC_U/T6CrPgRxPNI/AAAAAAAAAec/TOtyzfCJZBA/s400/princess+bun+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Excuse the awful blurring of the background but my house but the background was a mess!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ELNJgg0oObY/T6CrwYFeIeI/AAAAAAAAAek/Z7xBD7os40o/s1600/princess+bun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ELNJgg0oObY/T6CrwYFeIeI/AAAAAAAAAek/Z7xBD7os40o/s400/princess+bun.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
This is by far the easiest way to get a HUGE gorgeous bun in just about 5 minutes. I absolutely love this. <br />

I used:<br />
<br />
(1) Benefit Oxygen WOW in Toasted Beige<br />
(2) MAC Studio Fix Concealer in NC35<br />
(3) MAC Shade Stick in Gentle Lentil (I think this product may be discontinued, but its a light tannish cream shadow- totally dupeable so use what you have in your collection!)<br />
(4) MUD Cream Mascara in Black<br />
(5) MAC Powder in Harmony (as bronzer)<br />
(6) Buxom Lipcream in White Russian<br />

Have a great day!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-13483798296229181642012-05-01T22:48:00.004-04:002012-05-01T22:48:35.711-04:00Primer Fail: Benefit Primed and PorelessFor many people, primer is one of those extra steps that isn't really used on a regular basis. I don't use primer religiously but if I want my makeup to really last and continue to look flawless, I'll definitely use one. Here's the catch: I don't want to spend lots of money on one and if I do, it definitely has to be worth it. At Sephora I was given a sample of Benefit's Primed and Poreless which I was excited to try as I've seen so many good reviews about it. While I'm not totally hung up about it, I do have larger pores around my nose and cheeks. If I can find a product that minimizes them, that would definitely be a huge plus in my book.<br />
Here's my cute little sample packet:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JihJ8lfDZAw/T6Cf2afusmI/AAAAAAAAAdw/ySeJdLgpJoY/s1600/benefit+primed+and+poreless+front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JihJ8lfDZAw/T6Cf2afusmI/AAAAAAAAAdw/ySeJdLgpJoY/s400/benefit+primed+and+poreless+front.jpg" width="151" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rXt1uiBkO5k/T6CgB4k2iOI/AAAAAAAAAd4/48aeW3PIQ2k/s1600/benefit+primed+and+poreless+back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rXt1uiBkO5k/T6CgB4k2iOI/AAAAAAAAAd4/48aeW3PIQ2k/s400/benefit+primed+and+poreless+back.jpg" width="158" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So, last week, I tried the primer and applied as directed. I topped it with the makeup that's been part of my routine lately- Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Foundation, MAC Studio Fix Concealer in NC35, and a light dusting of whatever setting powder I happen to have at hand. <br />
Here's what the product looks like:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-La743KznR9M/T6CfP74kGBI/AAAAAAAAAdg/mvSdYyhptvY/s1600/benefit+primed+and+poreless+product.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-La743KznR9M/T6CfP74kGBI/AAAAAAAAAdg/mvSdYyhptvY/s400/benefit+primed+and+poreless+product.jpg" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Its a bit more creamy than it looks in the packaging</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JCxqJTxSkDs/T6CfWrncLzI/AAAAAAAAAdo/L-mV1njpZYY/s1600/benefit+primed+and+poreless+swatch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JCxqJTxSkDs/T6CfWrncLzI/AAAAAAAAAdo/L-mV1njpZYY/s400/benefit+primed+and+poreless+swatch.jpg" width="332" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Here you can tell that it has a silicone-y look and feel to it</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
After application, I noticed that my face kind of looked... the same. It didn't minimize the appearance of my pores but did mattify my skin so I decided to just give it a chance. <br />
Here's what my face looked like about half hour after application:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rMYmZI6sIBg/T6CgMNrvmpI/AAAAAAAAAeA/Pin3oQV0lro/s1600/benefit+primed+and+poreless+demo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rMYmZI6sIBg/T6CgMNrvmpI/AAAAAAAAAeA/Pin3oQV0lro/s400/benefit+primed+and+poreless+demo.jpg" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Kindly ignore the giant under eye circles..</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
On this particular day, I wore my makeup for about 9 hours which is a bit longer than I usually would. Anyway, at the end of the day, I looked in the mirror and was startled to see that my makeup looked AWFUL. The foundation was virtually gone and my concealer looked crease-y and gross. I've worn my makeup for that long before (without Primed and Poreless) and did not see those effects. And it wasn't just like "gee, my makeup has worn off a little. I look kind of odd." No. It was "Oh my God! I look AWFUL and I want to wear a paper bag over my head to get home!" As I've said before, my skin isn't particularly oily and its been cool in NYC, so I'm not entirely sure what happened. If you've read my other blog posts, you also know that as much as I love makeup, I'm not hung up about leaving the house wearing it always- most days I actually don't wear any makeup at all- just lip balm. Honestly though, the way my makeup looked at the end of the day... it was rough and I am sure I would've looked much better (and much more normal) had I not been wearing any makeup at all. I'm not including a picture of the after because it was just... gross. <br />
<br />
Have you tried Benefit's Primed and Poreless? What was your experience with it? Also, have you tried any primers that you absolutely hate?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-66007957888273730392012-04-30T22:29:00.004-04:002012-04-30T22:29:56.409-04:00Statement Lips: How ToFor a long time, I was absolutely terrified of wearing a bold lip. Its a very hard line to walk between statement making and looking like something went horribly wrong. Over the years, I've picked up a few tips that makes statement lips (darker, bolder, brighter) colors look crisp and neat without too much effort. <br />
<br />
So, first things first: you'll want to exfoliate lips and use a hydrating balm while you do your makeup. Then when you're ready to work on the lips, wipe off the excess balm and apply a TINY bit of concealer. It neutralizes your natural lip color and makes for a nice base for the color to stick to. But remember, the tiniest bit goes a long way!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-z13k6nxr-Z4/T59IkCZwuDI/AAAAAAAAAc0/WBM84rzFUh8/s1600/red+lip+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="237" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-z13k6nxr-Z4/T59IkCZwuDI/AAAAAAAAAc0/WBM84rzFUh8/s400/red+lip+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My lips with only concealer- I used Maybelline Mineral Power in Medium</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Next comes the liner if you choose to use it- I wouldn't suggest overdrawing your natural lip line- I find that drawing just at my natural lip line works best.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XPRZ_k4Fz_4/T59I7W5Aa3I/AAAAAAAAAc8/ZuHUwIdM_IE/s1600/red+lip+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XPRZ_k4Fz_4/T59I7W5Aa3I/AAAAAAAAAc8/ZuHUwIdM_IE/s400/red+lip+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
After lining around the lips, hold the liner sideways and fill in your lips. Then, apply your lipstick of choice. For this demonstration, I used NYC's Retro Red.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kUGzSLXJfhs/T59JQEzz_FI/AAAAAAAAAdE/cVZOeJoaL-o/s1600/red+lip+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kUGzSLXJfhs/T59JQEzz_FI/AAAAAAAAAdE/cVZOeJoaL-o/s400/red+lip+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
At this point you can run out the door, but I like to do two extra steps which I feel make a huge difference. Take a creamy concealer that's one or two shades lighter than your skin tone and with a lip brush, carefully draw a thin line all around your lips (I used MAC Studio Fix concealer in NC25).</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ifQCckA5j8U/T59Jt5SZUzI/AAAAAAAAAdM/ePlO8ZpnF5w/s1600/red+lip+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ifQCckA5j8U/T59Jt5SZUzI/AAAAAAAAAdM/ePlO8ZpnF5w/s400/red+lip+4.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I know this looks crazy right now! Hang in there!<br />
<br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The last step is to clean off your lip brush and blend the concealer line. This extra step makes your lips "pop" and also helps to perfect the contours of your lips helping them look fuller and more perfect. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

When I saw these, they melted my heart.. and my resolve. They are the perfect size for my face (I don't look like a fly like I usually do when I wear HUGE sunglasses) and they are just girly enough. <br />
They are the RayBan Aviators in Golden Orange #0RB3025<br />

I love aviators as they suit so many face shapes and flatter almost anyone. What are your favorite sunglasses styles? Do you think you'll try something new this summer?</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-32326489491063281712012-04-26T12:25:00.003-04:002012-04-26T12:25:39.027-04:00TAG! You're it!I've seen this cute little tag going around on YouTube and I really liked it and wanted to bring it to the blogosphere. Its called the "10 Little Secrets" tag. <br />
Soooo here goes!<br />
<br />
<strong>1. What is the one product that makes you feel like a million dollars?</strong><br />
For me that would definitely be under eye concealer. If I wanted to wear just one makeup item that would have maximum impact, it would definitely be that. Right now I'm loving MAC Studio Fix Concealer in NC35.<br />
<strong>2. What is your skincare secret/passed down tip?</strong><br />
Both my parents have really amazing skin and I was lucky to inherit that from them. My mom taught me at a young age that its very important to wash your face every single day and to moisturize! Its because of her that I started moisturizing my skin in middle school and have started using anti-aging products since high school.<br />
<strong>3. Share your haircare secret.</strong><br />
I am dedicated to deep conditioners. For the past year, I've been loving the Macadamia Nut Oil one. But yes, my biggest hair care secret is deep conditioning at least once a week, more if your hair is curly or dry.<br />
<strong>4. What is your biggest diet rule?</strong><br />
I have also been lucky to have an quick metabolism. While I don't have the best diet ever, I am a firm believer of "everything in moderation". If you deny yourself something, you'll end up craving it more and caving in eventually. So, if you're looking for a lifestyle change (which I believe is infinitely more effective than a diet), then seriously exercise portion control and you'd be surprised at what that along can do for you.<br />
<strong>5. Any workout tips?</strong><br />
WALK! I hate going to the gym- while some people absolutely love it and get great results, its just not my style. I walk everywhere and in NYC everything is at a fast pace so that's where I get my little bit of exercise in. I also really enjoy classes- I was into ballet for a long time and dearly miss it but I also enjoy Zumba. <br />
<strong>6. Which perfume is your secret weapon?</strong><br />
Without a doubt, its Dior's J'Adore. If I'm wearing that, I'm aiming for ultimate sexy and going for the kill (lol...)<br />
<strong>7.Show us a clothing item of yours which always turns heads.</strong><br />
Its a dress that's quite similar to this one- except no straps<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image credit: Google</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<strong>8.What is your most treasured piece of jewelry?</strong><br />
My most treasured piece of jewelry was one I sadly lost a few years ago. My mom bought little gold ID bracelets for both my sister and I and put them on us the day we were born. I loved the bracelet to death and wore it even though the name had long been scratched off. I refused to take it off for anything (oh how angry my old gym teacher would get!) It had such sentimental value that even when my mom bought me a new one, I never ever wore it. Then one day, I went to bed and when I woke up, it was gone. I think it may have fallen off but I looked everywhere and couldn't find it. By far it was my most treasured piece of jewelry. <br />
<strong>9.Who is your style crush?</strong><br />
Without a doubt, I absolutely love everything that Kim Kardashian, Kate Middleton, and Lucy Hale wear.<br />
<strong>10.Tell us something we don't know about you.</strong><br />
Despite the fact that I am *obsessed* with beauty products, I'm actually very low maintenance. I don't often heat style my hair, and I usually don't wear much makeup at all. <br />
<br />
<br />
So, I TAG anyone who'd like to participate! <br />

It effectively removed my makeup with little to no effort- even my usually hard to remove my mascara. While I usually end up scrubbing a little to make sure my makeup is all off, I didn't find myself doing that with this product.<br />
As it is a lotion consistency, I used a quarter-sized amount for my whole entire face and about 2 cotton rounds. Even though you don't have to, I then rinsed any residue off with water and followed up with toner and moisturizer. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were no traces of makeup on my face and that it looked hydrated and glowing (not from any greasy residue lol!) What also sets this makeup remover apart is that it did not leave my face dry or tight as other removers can, and often do.<br />

Overall, I really enjoyed using this product and will be very sad when my sample runs out! The only downside is that as its a Chanel product, it comes with a steep price tag. At $45.00, its way too expensive to use regularly as a makeup remover. <br />
<br />
What are your favorite makeup removers? Would you fork up the cash for a great product that was super expensive?<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357433331784174792.post-64407735684125092882012-04-24T11:34:00.001-04:002012-04-24T11:34:21.975-04:00Benefit Powderflage: A Love-Hate RelationshipThe subject of today's post is a product that I've been using for years but have a definite love-hate relationship with- Benefit Powderflage. I picked this up when it first came out (and I'm still on the same container!) Before any of the HD powders came onto the market, this seemed to be the best type of powder to use under the eyes to set concealer, and anywhere else that needed brightening.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-umR6u1JJSls/T5bFSRsjSBI/AAAAAAAAAcI/HeufO0820xQ/s1600/benefit+powderflage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-umR6u1JJSls/T5bFSRsjSBI/AAAAAAAAAcI/HeufO0820xQ/s320/benefit+powderflage.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This little orb contains very finely milled light pink powder with shimmer in it. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bwTQSRlVcFM/T5bGfenF-MI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/krrH5wuD3ow/s1600/benefit+powderflage+open.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bwTQSRlVcFM/T5bGfenF-MI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/krrH5wuD3ow/s320/benefit+powderflage+open.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The package also came with a little booklet with instructions and ideas about where and how to use this product. My main use for it, was to set the loads of under eye concealer I need to use to cover the dark circles under my eyes. What I liked about this powder was that because it was so finely milled, it helped the under eye area look natural and delayed the inevitable concealer creasing throughout the day. What I didn't like about it was the tone. For fairer-toned ladies, I could definitely see Powderflage being a holy grail product. For my skin tone, which is on the warmer side, the tone is just...off. While the shimmer and the lightness of the powder helped diffuse the darkness, because its a pink and not salmon-toned for example, the color just looks a bit off on me. <br />
Here's a swatch on my hand so you get the idea:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2wcTqqkBJ68/T5bHZKmzjPI/AAAAAAAAAcY/M4evuGdvtCA/s1600/benefit+powderflage+swatch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="258" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2wcTqqkBJ68/T5bHZKmzjPI/AAAAAAAAAcY/M4evuGdvtCA/s320/benefit+powderflage+swatch.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
You can see that even when used sparingly, it does have an overall brightening effect, but the color of the powder leaves a bit of an ashy tone that doesn't look quite right. Therefore, throughout the years I've gravitated toward this product and moved away from it on a pretty consistent basis lol. <br />
